One thought: A whole new world
“It may be the end of the world as we know it, but we get to decide what the next world looks like.”
What a great AI-focused quote from TMU’s Allyson Miller, who spoke at Seneca Polytechnic’s Teaching and Learning day yesterday.
GenAI remains one of the most-discussed tools in communications today. Fully embraced, stumbled over, or completely rejected—how it's situated in people’s work and life varies tremendously.
For S&B, we embrace it—when it makes sense. The world is ever-changing, and we’re life-long learners. But, in its current state, it doesn’t have a role in much of what we do in our daily strategy-focused work.
When it comes to client work, we remain most focused on the human connection. The human touch is what sets our work apart. It’s also the human voice that makes us, well, the kind of humans our clients trust and value.
Take this AI-generated blurb:
“At S&B, while we appreciate the potential AI holds, we firmly believe in prioritizing the human touch in our endeavors. There's an irreplaceable value in human connection that no AI can replicate. Therefore, we tread the path of AI integration thoughtfully, embracing it where it complements our work without overshadowing the essence of human interaction. It's about finding the delicate balance between leveraging technology for efficiency while safeguarding the authenticity and depth of human connections.”
Not bad (and pretty accurate!) but it doesn’t sound like us or feel like us.
What does AI look like in your world? How do you determine when it’s a tool you use, vs. when you prioritize human-centered work?
